Race four on this year’s Formula 1 calendar takes us to Istanbul Park in Turkey, as the first of ten races on the European leg of the championship gets underway.

Though the circuit itself has a relatively simple layout compared to other venues on the calendar, it has established itself as a favorite among fans and drivers due to its graceful run of corners through the first half of the circuit, culminating with the four-apex, organ-crushing maelstrom that is turn 8.

Turkey was the scene of perhaps the most extraordinary event of the 2010 season, as the Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber inexplicably came together on the approach to turn 12 while Webber was leading the race. Vettel ended up retiring from the race, while Webber managed to limp home in third place, gifting Mclaren with a 1-2 finish.

Though a repeat of last years fireworks is highly unlikely, Sebastian Vettel has outperformed his Australian counterpart in all three races this year and the two drivers will push each other to the limit as they seek to exorcize the demons of 2010’s race by taking the top step of the dais.
